Nylon is a synthetic fibre, first produced by DuPont in 1939. Over the years acrylics have been consistently improved, with many modern fibres having the feel and appearance of wool. Nylon is strong, resilient and abrasion resistant making it an ideal and common choice for rugs. Generally it responds well to cleaning but will fade from exposure to sunlinght.
Advantages: resilient, abrasion resistant, dyes easily.
Disadvantages: fading, staining (stain resistant, not stain proof), affected by bleach.
